  1. Lovely. “Snappy and responsive” seems a nice way of say “not as crap as the last one”.

  2. Peter,
Thanks for commenting. In relation to your comment isn’t the new version most often an improvement of the previous version ?
Main point is Windows 7 is here and is fast, reliable, cool, snappy and less crappy than a lot of other OS’

  3. I think the problem is that the snappy implies an apology for Vista…no one really ever referred to XP or OS X as not snappy. I think MS should have taken a “Windows 7 rocks” tenor, instead of the “we’re not bad anymore” tenor.

  4. Pete dH,
What Jason said. The ads come across as an apology for Vista. “Yep, we screwed the pooch on the last one, but this one is really good. Honest!”
Given the choice between XP and Vista, most people choose XP. Vista is terrible. Windows 7, apparently, is less terrible. I’m waiting for the “wow”.

  5. Peter,
My guess is the ads are not intended as an excuse, but read into it what you think is best. Aparently your perception about Vista is very bad and Windows 7 does not do it for you either.
From personal experience, and this is my honoust opinion. Vista brought me many improvements over Windows XP that I simply could not do without. Search and tagging for one thing is something I have used from day 1 and it has compeletly changed the way I store, retrieve information. That in itsself did it.
I have run the mediacenter at home on Vista as of Beta 1 and besides a few glitches in the beta phase it ran flawless for 3 years with a reliability index of 9.8. And TV(recordings), music and photos are mission crytical at home 😉
Windows 7 changed all of this with improved performance, new features, etc. I run it on 5+ machines at home and each and every one of them gives us an awesome experience, espacially the upgraded WindowsXP netbooks …
Again, sorry to see your experience differs. I am glad for you you have a choice in OS’ hardware, etc to find what you are looking for 😉

  6. I must agree w/ Peter (at least mostly). Vista has run well on my business laptop – no major issues except for a non-compliant VPN driver. If the hardware was right, Vista was as stable as XP and the search facilities, combined w/ an easier interface made life a lot easier. Windows 7 is better – but that is to be expected.
