  1. but but..
    for 1000 USD ( http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/4771310.stm ) I rather own an iPod and a Nokia 770 ( http://europe.nokia.com/nokia/0,1522,,00.html?orig=/770 ). costs less, does more, way cooler.
btw: I still remember the slogan of bill “we are a microSOFT, a software company”. tell that to sony (xbox), arcade (joystickmaker), ati (remote control maker) or nokia (cool linux gadget maker 🙂 how long before msft will go in to services? My best quess? 3-5 years!

  2. Bert,
It’s good for you as a consumer (and Linux fan ? :-)) that there’s a lot of choice out there.
I am not up to speed on est pricing for Origami devices, nor am I sure that the devices will solely be sold under the Microsoft brand.
Software is still the core of Microsoft and any move into services will be related to the evolution of the industry to name one important aspect; software as a service I mean …. Look at the moves of Google and the response of Microsoft (Windows Live).
My guess is Microsoft won’t become another IBM if that’s what you mean with a move into services.
